Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana have suffered a heavy blow ahead of their international friendly against Paraguay next week following the withdrawal of BidVest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs from the team due to injury.

Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane has confirmed that they have received a letter from "The Students" requesting that Josephs be excused from the national team to face Paraguay.

"We have just received a letter from Wits requesting that Josephs be withdrawn from Bafana due to injury. This has just been brought to our attention and the coach has still to decide who to call-up as a replacement."

It has, however, been established from reliable sources that Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Calvin Marlin could be recalled back to Bafana to replace Josephs for the match that is scheduled for Tshwane's Super Stadium on March 26.

The other goalkeeper in the Bafana squad is Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune.
