Ertugal to meet club bosses
14/04/2008 16:15 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral will meet with the club's management and chairperson Kaizer Motaung next week to plan for next season.
Ertugral is in Stuttgart, Germany this week visiting his sick father-in-law.
The Turkish born coach who is a German national denied speculation that he will quit Amakhosi at the end of the season.
Ertugral and Motaung had a public disagreement recently over the way the team was playing but Ertugral said he was keen to plot the way forward for the 2008/09 Absa Premiership season.
Said Ertugral: "I will be returning home to Johannesburg on Sunday and next week I will meet management and plan ahead. Obviously we will discuss new players and who we want to bring in and who could be leaving. But I do not want to discuss that now as we still have five league matches to play before the end of this season and we want to finish in the top eight."
Ertugral admitted that the better team had won when Mamelodi Sundowns beat Amakhosi 1-0 in a league clash at Loftus at the weekend.
Said the Chiefs coach: "I have no complaints about the result. We were beaten by a better team on the day. But it is not the end of the world for us. I strongly believe we will qualify for the top eight."
Tough matches ahead
Ertugral's men still have to play against title chasing Santos (home), Orlando Pirates (away at the Mmbatho Stadium on May 11), Golden Arrows (away), Bloemfontein Celtic (home) and Black Leopards (away) before completing a season which, by their high standards, has been ordinary.
Said Ertugral: "There are tough matches ahead. Pirates, Santos and Arrows will not be easy but neither will Celtic or Leopards if one or both of those clubs needs points to stay up and not be relegated."
Ertugral stated that it made no difference to him where he would play Pirates or any other of the remaining fixtures.
Explained Ertugral: "That has been part of our problem this season -having no real home ground, so it does not really matter where we play any of the remaining games. All I want is to finish on a high note and qualify for the top eight."
