FC AK guilty of bribery

Johannesburg - Delivering a verdict of potentially far-reaching consequences, the PSL Disciplinary Committee on Thursday night found Inland First Division Stream winners FC AK and club owner Azziz Kara guilty of bribery and corruption.
"Sentence will be handed down on Wednesday," said PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu, "after all the parties involved have been afforded the opportunity of providing the Disciplinary Committee with submissions."
The case, which arose from a complaint by the First Division's Mpumalanga Black Aces, revolves round a bribe allegedly offered to Aces goalkeeper Michael Babale by Kara.
FC AK, who were due to play Coastal Stream First Division winners Maritzburg United for a place in next season's Premier League, now appear certain to forfeit this opportunity.
And this would then bring Dynamos or Black Aces into the picture as more viable promotion candidates.
In a previous case involving bribery, the guilty parties were banned from the PSL for life.
"But until the verdict is announced," said Majavu, "the League will not make any pronouncements on a sentence - or even be drawn into any speculation with regard thereto."
