  • London - Chelsea's England midfielder Frank Lampard is expected to play against Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Lampard, who played in the first leg which ended in a 1-1 draw at Anfield, missed Saturday's 2-1 Premiership win over Manchester United following the death of his mother Pat from pneumonia.

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, Lampard's England teammate, believes Chelsea are now favourites to reach the final and face Manchester United in Moscow on May 21 after drawing the first leg at Anfield.

"They are very strong at home where they have been unbeaten for a long time," he told reporters on Tuesday. "It is going to be tough and they are probably favourites but we have shown we can be very strong away from home in Europe in recent years."

Liverpool must end a run of eight games at Stamford Bridge without a goal to have any chance of going through.

Rafa Benitez, who guided Liverpool to victory in the 2005 final and to runners-up spot last year, is looking for his third semi-final win over Chelsea in four seasons.
