Ajax confident of League title
08/05/2008 14:07  - (SA)

  • Ajax looking good at the top
  • United target home games
  • Tovey tackles former club
  • Cape Town - With only two games to go before the Absa Premiership comes to an end, Ajax Cape Town already have a whiff of the League title this season following their 3-0 victory over AmaZulu at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.

The Urban Warriors' win on Wednesday has pushed them to the summit of the log where midfielder Mkhanyiseli Siwahla says they are determined to remain until the end of the season.

Speaking after whipping Usuthu on Wednesday, Siwahla says they are not focusing on how their closest rivals SuperSport United will perform in their three remaining games, but rather on winning their own last two games.

"Our last two games are crucial and we are ready to die with our boots on in them. Judging on the way we performed against AmaZulu, I am starting to feel that we have a great chance of winning the League title. The spirit is high and there is great determination among all our players."

The national Under-23 midfielder conceded that the bonus incentive introduced by management recently had also boosted their determination.

"Even though winning the League will be the best prize itself in terms of pride, the bonuses on offer for winning games has also played an important part in encouraging players to do well in the remaining games."

Ajax Cape Town must play Santos and Golden Arrows before their wind up their campaign.
