Ajax have fate in own hands
16/05/2008 13:53  - (SA)

  • Ajax boss fumes
  • Modise, Khune vie for top award
  • Ajax CT's title hopes fading
  • Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Mkhanyiseli "Makalegs" Siwahla has admitted that the players should take the blame if they fail to lift their maiden Absa Premiership title on Sunday.

They play Lamontville Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium in uMlazi.

    Kick-off is at 15:00.

The Cape Town outfit are trailing champions elect, SuperSport United by 3 points and the winners will be decided on Sunday's last fixture of the season.

Ajax suffered a major blow by drawing 1-1 against neighbours, Santos at Athlone Stadium while SuperSport beat Golden Arrows by 2-0 at Super Stadium earlier this week.

"If we fail to win the championship this Sunday it will be a major blow for us, management and the people of Cape Town. We fought very hard to achieve this silverware but now we are under pressure. We will make sure that we beat Arrows, hoping that Bloemfontein Celtic beat SuperSport." Siwahla said.

Meanwhile, Thanda Royal Zulu have vowed to show relegated Jomo Cosmos no mercy in their last Premiership game at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on Sunday.

Thanda manager, Thabani Gumede said they want to avoid the playoffs by humiliating Cosmos who will play in the National First Division (NFD) Inland Stream next season.

Cosmos owner cum-coach, Jomo Sono says this game is no longer important to them as they are already relegated. He said he would field fringe players.
