Kaka to go under the knife
23/05/2008 11:26 - (SA)
Milan - AC Milan star striker Kaka on Friday was to undergo surgery in Brazil to treat a knee problem that hampered him in the last part of the Serie A season, the club's website reported.
La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that two weeks of rest are expected for Kaka after Jose Runco, the chief medical officer of Brazil's national team, operates on his left knee.
Kaka, 26, will be fit again for the start of Milan's summer camp in July.
He should also be available for two World Cup qualifiers that Brazil play on June 15 against Paraguay and on June 18 against Argentina.
It is unlikely, however, that the 2007 Golden Ball winner will play the Olympic tournament in China next August.
Milan appear set on appealing to international rules allowing them to retain the player.
