Henry double lifts Arsenal

London - Arsenal kept their Champions League hopes alive with a deserved but hard-earned 2-1 win over Panathinaikos in their Champions League first phase Group C match at Highbury on Tuesday.
Two goals from Frenchman Thierry Henry, after 23 minutes and a 52nd minute penalty, gave the Gunners all three points from a Greek side who kept them under pressure until the final whistle.
Panathinaikos cancelled out Henry's first goal after 50 minutes when Emmanuel Olisadebe scored after the Arsenal defence failed to clear, but almost immediately Arsenal regained the lead at the other end when Henry scored from the spot.
Panathinaikos wasted a great chance to cancel out Henry's first goal but Angelos Basinas's penalty was saved by Richard Wright on his home Arsenal debut.
