Bulls sweat on Habana's X-rays

Pretoria - Bulls IRB Player of the Year, Bryan Habana, is waiting for his X-rays to learn the extent of his rib injury.

Habana injured his ribs against the Lions in Windhoek on Saturday, but team doctor Tommie Smook is optimistic that the prolific try scorer will be up and running in a few days.

"We have to wait for the X-rays to be absolutely sure, but I think his ribs are only bruised and not broken."

Smook said that he was very happy with the way Danie Rossouw, Gurthro Steenkamp and Heini Adams came through the game against the Lions, but Akona Ndungane was not able to train with his teammates at Loftus on Monday.

Chiliboy Ralepelle as well as Rayno Gerber started their rehabilitation on Monday morning and there is a possibility that they might be fit for the match against the Stormers on February 16.

Richard Bands is working hard to regain full fitness and Smook said Bakkies Botha's rehabilitation is going very well.

Botha's Springbok teammate Pierre Spies will know by the end of the week when he will be able to play again.

Spies's appointment with the specialist is scheduled for February 8, but the big loose forward is already training with the team and everyone at the Bulls believes he will be competing in the Super 14 sooner rather than later.
