Cape Town - Schalk Burger has been ruled out of rugby for six weeks after injuring his knee ligaments in the Stormers' 26-16 Super 14 victory over the Highlanders at Newlands.
Burger was forced to retire from the game prematurely in the 55th minute. Rapport reported on Sunday that the flanker's injury is a massive blow to the Stormers and their aspirations to secure a Super 14 semi-final spot. Burger will be out for at least six weeks.
Saturday's win over the Highlanders moved the Cape side down to sixth on the Super 14 log after they failed to get an extra bonus point.
