Durban - Following SA Rugby's announcement on Friday that the current Sharks coach Dick Muir has been appointed as one of the Springbok assistant coaches, the Sharks Board announced on Saturday that John Plumtree has been appointed as the new head coach for the Sharks effective June 1st.

Plumtree has many years of experience as head coach at Swansea in Wales and Wellington in New Zealand. He also coached the Sharks in the 2007 Currie Cup in which the team, minus their Springboks, reached the semi-final of the competition. He is, therefore, no stranger and has a good track record.

The management team will also be appointed after the completion of the 2008 Super 14 competition has run its course. Management will include a new team doctor as Craig Roberts has also been appointed to the Springbok Management Team.
