Paris - France's Tatiana Golovin will be out of action for several weeks after being told she had to undergo an operation to remove a cyst from her hip, L'Equipe newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The Russian-born world No.13 was dogged by a back injury earlier this year and has been able to win just two games in the three tournaments she has played in.
Doctors then told her after X-rays that the pain was being caused by a six-centimetre long cyst on her hip and that she would need an operation.
"I do not even know if I will be able to defend my title at Amelia Island (April 7-13)," the 20-year-old Golovin said.
"It's tough on me, but at least I now know what has been causing the discomfort."
