London - Mark Philippoussis took the first step in dragging himself out of his recent form slump with an easy first round win over Christophe Rochus at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

The Australian, the runner-up last year, easily accounted for the Belgian qualifier 6-3 6-4 6-2 in one hour and 31 minutes.

The victory was a welcome turnaround for Philippoussis, who had not won a major match in nearly six months coming into the tournament.
