London - Two Britons have been charged with conspiring to create a computer virus believed to have wreaked major damage via the internet, police said on Wednesday.
Jordan Bradley, 20, and Andrew Harvey, 22, were arrested in February following a joint investigation by British and US police, a spokesperson said.
The men, who were charged on Monday, are accused of being part of an international gang of computer hackers known as the THr34t-Krew.
Bradley, of Darlington, and Harvey, of Belmont, both in northeast England, are due to appear before magistrates in Consett on September 18.
They are charged with conspiring with others to make unauthorised modifications to the contents of computers with the intent to impair the operation of those computers between January 1, 2002 and February this year.
