Xbox will get a make-over
11/03/2005 08:56  - (SA)

San Francisco - Microsoft unveiled the first details of its next-generation Xbox video game system that will include features such as custom music playlists and information exchange between online players.

A company spokesperson said there is no announcement yet of when the new version Xbox is due out. He did say that all future generations of the game console will focus on a more personalised experience for players by fusing hardware, software and services.

New features such as the "guide" will enable players to read about other Xbox online members and to listen to the music of their choice while playing, said the Microsoft spokesperson.

Allowing gamers to choose their own music will also eliminate the need for game developers to support custom music in game softwares, he said.

Microsoft has sold 19.9 million Xbox consoles worldwide since its 2001 launch, according to the company official.
