Johannesburg - South Africa has approved the final draft of the biofuels industrial framework strategy but details of the strategy are expected later in the day, government spokesperson, Themba Meseko, said on Thursday.

Maize is not included maize in the initial stages of the biofuels production.

The decision was taken due to concerns over food security and fears about potential maize price increases, the DME said in a statement.

The Department of Minerals and Energy is due to release full details of the strategy later in the day, Maseko said.
