'Act, or face irrelevance'

New York - US Secretary of State Colin Powell told the UN Security Council on Wednesday that the United Nations risked irrelevance if it did not act in response to alleged Iraqi violations of UN resolutions.
"This body places itself in danger of irrelevance if it allows Iraq to continue to defy its will without responding effectively and immediately," Powell told the council in a presentation of US intelligence material purportedly showing that Iraq has tried to hide material from UN inspectors.
He told the council that the United States had witness accounts that Iraq had mobile bioweapons laboratories.
