Baghdad / Cairo - A second explosion has been heard in Baghdad close to the scene of Sunday morning's attack on the al-Rasheed Hotel, Arab news channel al-Jazeera reported on Sunday evening.

The explosion is reported to have come from a conference centre located about 20 metres from the hotel, where earlier on Sunday a US soldier died and 15 people were wounded in a multiple rocket attack.

Between eight to ten missiles were fired at the hotel where deputy secretary of defence Paul Wolfowitz and other US officials were staying. - Sapa-DPA
