New York - UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he was shocked by Monday's killing of Iraqi Governing Council leader Ezzedine Saleem in a Baghdad car bombing but that efforts to stabilise the country will continue.
"I am really shocked by the tragic and criminal assassination of the president of the Iraqi Governing Council," he told reporters at UN headquarters in New York.
"In the meantime, the efforts to bring stability to Iraq will continue and I hope this tragic event will not disrupt it," he said.
