Blair upbeat on UN, Iraq
25/05/2004 20:18 - (SA)
London - Prospects are "good" that a US-British draft resolution on Iraq will be adopted by the UN Security Council, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Tuesday.
"I believe that from the contacts we have had that the prospects of the UN resolution are good, but we have to wait and see," Blair told reporters at a monthly Downing Street media conference.
"We already have reactions from France and Germany this morning which are basically positive and in the right direction."
Blair's comments echo those made earlier in the day by German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, who called the draft "a very good basis on which to try to find a consensus".
