Baghdad - Five Iraqis were killed and three others wounded on Saturday when a US tank fired at a house in Khalidiya, 75km west of Baghdad, witnesses told Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa).

The witnesses said the men were sitting outside a house in the city when a shell was fired from a US tank.

The father of one victim said the men were targeted without prior warning or provocation.

The report has yet to be confirmed by independent sources. - Sapa-dpa
