Dubai - The Al-Arabiya television channel said on Sunday that its correspondent in the Iraqi city of Fallujah, Abdel Kader Al-Saadi, had been released after being held for 11 days by the US military.
The Dubai-based station said that their correspondent had been arrested by US forces in a mosque in the city on November 11 during the US-led offensive to regain control of the city. He was wearing a vest identifying himself as a journalist at the time, it said.
"He was freed after 11 days in detention," the channel said.
Interviewed by Al-Arabiya, the correspondent described the "dramatic" circumstances of his detention, where he said he was kept with "2 000-2 500" others in "cages" in Fallujah.
He added that the US forces had started to release the detainees in groups four days ago.
