Hilla - A car bomb exploded on Friday morning in a busy vegetable market in the centre of the mainly Shi'ite town of Hilla, south of Baghdad, killing at least 10 and wounding 12, police said.
Friday's explosion in the town located 100km south of Baghdad followed a triple car bomb attack in the mainly Shi'ite town of Balad, 70km north of the capital on Thursday evening which killed about 85 people and wounded more than 110.
Last Sunday in Hilla, one person was killed and 36 wounded when a bicycle loaded with explosives exploded on a busy main street.
In May, at least 25 former police commandos were killed and 100 wounded in a double suicide bombing outside government offices in the town.
