London toll expected to rise
11/07/2005 19:16 - (SA)
London - The number of people confirmed dead in last Thursday's bombings in London has risen to 52 and the figure will rise further, police said on Monday.
The previous confirmed death toll from the blasts on three subway trains and a double-decker bus - the deadliest attacks in Britain since World War II - had been 49 dead.
"I am sure the death toll will rise above 52," metropolitan police commissioner Ian Blair told reporters.
<>However, he added: "It certainly will not rise to three figures or anything of that nature."
