People rapped for leaving bags

London - Commuters who have sparked more than 50 alerts by leaving unattended bags on London's underground trains since last week's bombings were slammed on Monday as "irresponsible in the extreme".
The alerts have caused cancellations and delays on the London underground which officials are trying hard to restore to a normal working schedule, said a Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson.
All subway services were stopped completely on Thursday after the attacks, but most lines are running as normal apart from those hit by the blasts.
The spokesperson said: "These delays are placing an additional burden on our staff and emergency services who are working so hard to keep London moving safely.
"At this time, it is irresponsible in the extreme for a minority of passengers to cause major disruptions through thoughtlessness.
"We are asking everyone travelling in the capital to help us by keeping hold of their possessions and getting rid of their litter sensibly.
"We are urging all passengers to challenge others if they see anything unusual and bring it immediately to the attention of TfL staff or police."
At least 52 people died and 700 were injured when bombs blew up on three underground trains and one bus during rush hour last Thursday.
