Montego Bay - The father of suspected London bomber Germaine Lindsay said in a broadcast on Monday that he felt depressed as British police probed his dead son's role in the subway attacks.
Nigel Lindsay, a 45 year-old Jamaican, identified himself as Germaine's father last week.
He told RJR FM radio he sought counselling after he heard of his son's suspected involvement in the London bombings, which killed 56 people and wounded about 700 in the British capital.
"I am just trying to cope with the tragedy and to put my life back together and I think I have to go and get some counselling and advice as to what else I should do now, but right now I am not fully prepared to speak to anyone," Lindsay said.
British officials confirmed that Jamaican officers had interviewed Lindsay at the request of London police.
"I feel depressed and worried. I would also seek legal advice later as to what are the implications of such a tragic issue," Lindsay said in the radio interview.
Lindsay spoke of his regret that his 19-year-old son had not stayed in Jamaica and said he had not seen his son for eight years.
He said he last saw Germaine when he was 11, on a one-week trip to the Caribbean island.
Lindsay said he had sent his son to Britain to live with his mother "in search of a better life," adding he had not been able to sleep since news of the July 7 attacks on the London subway and a bus were reported around the world.
British police on Saturday confirmed that Germaine Lindsay was suspected of triggering the explosion between the King's Cross and Russell Square underground stations where 27 died, making it the deadliest of the four rush-hour attacks in central London.
The radio network interviewed Lindsay last week, but delayed the broadcast until Monday.
