London 21/7 suspect charged
01/08/2005 19:04 - (SA)
Rome - London bombing suspect Hamdi Issac was formally charged on Monday with international terrorism and with possessing false identity documents, his court-appointed defence lawyer Antonietta Sonnessa said.
The brother of the 27-year-old suspect, Remzi Adus Issac, who was arrested with him in Rome on Friday, was also charged with holding false identity documents.
Both men are being held in Rome's Regina Coeli prison.
A senior Italian police official told reporters earlier on Monday that Issac had no links to known terrorist cells in Italy and it was "very probable" he did not belong to any organised terrorist group.
British police, who have arrested Issac's three alleged accomplices in the failed July 21 bombings in London, are seeking his extradition.
