London - The plot to bomb three London underground trains and a bus in July last year cost less than $15 000, British Home Secretary John Reid said on Thursday.

Best estimates were that the plot carried out by four British Muslim extremists "cost less than £8 000," Reid told the House of Commons.

The ingredients used were readily commercially available and easy to assemble, he added.

The plot killed 52 commuters in addition to the four suicide bombers and injured more than 700 people.
