Jerusalem - Rockets fired by Hezbollah landed in the northern Israeli city of Haifa on Sunday, killing at least one person and wounding many others, medics said.

A police commander told Israel Radio that a rocket slammed into two adjacent houses, causing them to partially collapse.

Several people were trapped in the rubble.

Twelve Israeli soldiers were killed earlier on Sunday when a Hezbollah rocket landed among reservists in northern Israel - Hezbollah's deadliest single missile strike of the Lebanon war.
