Sydney - An airline passenger was stabbed in the neck during a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Sydney on Wednesday, Australian Federal Police said.
A police spokesperson said a 50-year-old man was stabbed in the head and neck with an undisclosed weapon in what is believed to have been an argument over seating arrangements.
The man, a Thai-born Australian resident, was taken to hospital after the plane touched down in Sydney, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
A 22-year-old man from Sydney was being questioned by police over the incident.
The Australian government has announced plans to increase airline security after a number of incidents in recent months.
Last month a Sydney man was arrested for brandishing a knife on board a Virgin Blue flight from Sydney to Cairns.
And on May 29 a man armed with two sharpened wooden stakes allegedly tried to hijack a Qantas jet between Melbourne and Launceston.
