New York - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on CNN on Thursday there was "no evidence" that terrorism caused a massive power blackout in the eastern United States and Canada.
"I can tell you 100 pecent sure that there is no evidence as of this moment whatsover that there is any terrorism," Bloomberg said in an interview with the cable news station.
"In terms of New York city there is no terrorism whatsoever," Bloomberg said, adding that the Niagara-Mohawk power grid had been hit by a problem that was most likely a "natural occurrence."
Bloomberg said he had been told by officials that the New York power grid had been shut down deliberately to avoid being damaged, and that it could be at least several hours before electricity was restored.
