Jerusalem - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said on Monday he would modify his plan for a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, after his Likud party rejected it in a referendum.
"All those who think the Likud leadership will stop its efforts to settle the conflict are wrong.
"I intend to present a plan including some amendments," Sharon told Likud MPs.
On Sunday, the Likud party overwhelmingly voted down the so-called "disengagement" plan, which includes a troop withdrawal from most of the Gaza Strip, as well as the removal of all 21 Jewish settlements in the Palestinian territory.
