Man rescued 8 days after quake

Tehran - A man was rescued from beneath the debris of his home on Tuesday eight days after an earth quake struck Zarand in southeast Iran, state news agency IRNA reported.
Ahmad Habibzadeh, 40, was discovered by local residents in Assadabadi near Zarand, IRNA said.
Unable to speak, Habibzadeh was immediately transferred to hospital in Zarand with no news yet available on his condition, the report added.
The latest death toll from the quake stands at 612 with over 1 000 injured. About 30 000 people in the region have been left homeless. - dpa
