Poisoned pizza sent to boy
07/05/2005 08:13 - (SA)
Sao Paulo, Brazil - Nine people were hospitalised in serious condition after a teenager sent a poisoned pizza to her former boyfriend at a school in northeastern Brazil, authorities said on Friday.
Seven students and two school employees had to be rushed to a hospital with food-poisoning symptoms on Thursday night after eating the pizza in the town of Petrolandia, about 2 200 kilometres northeast of Sao Paulo, police said.
The pizza was delivered at the school along with a love letter to one of the students, police said.
The employees and the students - mostly teenagers - remained hospitalised suffering from convulsions, dizziness and hemorrhages, police said.
No one had been arrested yet, but police investigators said the pizza was allegedly sent by one of the student's former girlfriends, officer Rildemar Martins said.
The conclusion was reached after police analysed the love letter and talked to the man who delivered the pizza, Martins said.
Police was still trying to determine what kind of poison was used.
