Babysitter 'raped' infants

Madrid - Frantic parents in the southern city of Murcia have been calling police, worried they may have hired a babysitter arrested for raping infants, reported El Pais newspaper on Friday.
The babysitter was one of five men, aged between 23 and 43, detained on Thursday across Spain after police were tipped off about a ring of "baby rapists" who distributed child pornography on the internet.
Murcia city prefect Angel Gonzalez said: "Dozens of women have expressed concern that their children may have been subject to ill-treatment, given that one of those arrested was their babysitter."
He said the five arrests were "only the tip of the iceberg".
A 23-year-old, identified only as Alvaro IG and well-known in paedophile circles under the alias of "Nanysex", had offered to baby-sit in Murcia for a cut-rate price of $3.75 an hour - less than half the going rate.
Abuse of at least six chldren
Police said his face appeared in a video on a website that showed a two-year-old being abused by him and a friend, Eduardo SM.
A further police probe implicated him in the abuse of at least six children aged one to nine.
Spain's interior minister José Antonio Alonso said on Thursday he had never seen "images of such brutality" and said no decent society could tolerate such abuse.
The ministry said that the gang sold images "of dozens of children, many of them just months-old babies, filmed while they were being abused".
It added that the arrests brought "out in the open a perversion and a degradation that exceeds all limits known by police investigators".
Police launched their investigation based on images provided by Interpol, showing the rape of a one-year-old baby by two men.
