Ganei Tal Settlement, Gaza Strip - A Jewish resident in the Gaza Strip settlement of Ganei Tal on Wednesday threatened to commit suicide to stave off forcible eviction by Israeli troops, army radio reported.
The woman barricaded herself inside her house and cried out that she would end her life if police and soldiers entered the building.
Israeli troops encountered no opposition early on Wednesday after they entered the settlement, part of the main southern Gush Katif bloc and which has been home to 400 Jewish residents.
Several hundred Jewish settler families defied a midnight deadline to leave their homes of their own accord as Israel embarked on its historic pullout from the Palestinian territory after 38 years of occupation.
