  • Rome - Paolo di Lauro, the boss of a major organised crime group in Naples, was arrested on Friday in the southern Italian city, police said.

"Paolo di Lauro was arrested during the night by police in the Secondigliano neighbourhood, in the north of Naples," said a police spokesperson in Naples.

Di Lauro's organisation took control of Secondigliano in the early 1980s, following a war with two other clans.

Police have been looking for di Lauro, 52, for the past three years as one of Italy's 30 most-wanted fugitives, according to the Italian interior ministry.

He is wanted for "Mafia association" and "international drug trafficking", police said.
