Sharon to undergo surgery
26/12/2005 14:52 - (SA)
Jerusalem - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will undergo a procedure to repair a small hole in his heart, Israel Radio reported on Monday.
The report said the procedure is routine, and his condition is common and not life threatening.
The report came from a news conference held by Sharon's doctors to discuss the prime minister's health following his mild stroke last week.
The heart condition was discovered following the stroke. Doctors have said Sharon suffered no lasting damage, and he has resumed his full work load.
But the health scare has raised concerns about the 77-year-old leader's ability to work as he runs for a third term.
