Zarqawi gets 'Red Notice'
28/12/2005 12:56 - (SA)
Lyon, France - Interpol said on Wednesday that it has issued an international arrest warrant for al-Qaeda's leader in Iraq, the Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The warrant was issued following a request from Algeria, which is investigating the kidnapping and murder of two Algerian diplomats in Iraq in July, the international police organisation said in a statement.
Zarqawi is also wanted in Germany and Iraq for terrorism offences, as well as in Jordan where he has claimed a series of attacks, including the triple hotel bombing that left 60 people dead in Amman last month, Interpol said.
Interpol arrest warrants, known as Red Notices, are relayed to the police forces of the organisation's 184 members.
