Diyala - Five police recruits were killed on Monday after a suicide car-bomb slammed into the bus in which they were travelling, police said. Thirteen people were wounded.

The police bus had been travelling to a training centre in northern Baqouba, 60km northeast of Baghdad, said police.

A car bomb exploded in Baghdad on Monday near an American convoy, said police captain Qassim Hussein. Police had no information on casualties; United States officials do not usually comment on attacks on American convoys.

Police in western Baghdad found the body of a policeman who had been shot in the head and chest, said Hussein.
