London - Anti-terrorist police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the attempted July 21 bombings on London's transit network, police said on Tuesday.
Police raided two homes and a business in western London after the man was detained at 11:40 (GMT), said a spokesperson for London's metropolitan police, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with police policy.
He is the 44th person to be arrested in connection with the failed attacks, which took place two weeks after suicide bombers targeted three subway trains and a bus, killing 52 people and the four attackers.
"He has been taken to a central London police station where he will be interviewed," the spokesperson said.
The suspect is accused of aiding the alleged bombers after the failed attacks, officials said. He was arrested for offences under Britain's Terrorism Act.
A total of 16 people have been charged in relation to the failed plot to attack three subway trains and a double-decker bus on July 21.
Five men have been accused of conspiracy to murder and are due to stand trial at London's central criminal court in September.
Muktar Said Ibrahim, 27, Ramzi Mohammed, 23, Yassin Omar, 24, Manfo Asiedu, 32, and Hussain Osman, 27 were detained within a few days of the attacks.
Ethiopian-born Osman has said through his lawyer that the bombing attempt was meant to scare people, not kill them.
A sixth man, 23-year-old Adel Yahya, is accused of conspiracy to cause explosions, while 10 others are charged with failing to disclose information. No dates have yet been set for their trials.
