  • Landstuhl - United States television anchor Bob Woodruff and his cameraman Doug Vogt were admitted to a US military hospital in Germany on Monday after being seriously wounded in a bombing in Iraq, said the hospital.

A spokesperson said Woodruff and Vogt were both in intensive care at Landstuhl Hospital, the biggest US medical facility outside America. She declined to give further details.

The veteran ABC news journalists had head wounds in a roadside bombing, near Taji, just north of Baghdad, while travelling with a US army division and an Iraqi army unit.

They underwent surgery at a US military hospital in Iraq before they were flown to Germany on Monday.

Medical staff at the hospital in Iraq had said that the pair was in a stable condition after the surgery, but that the next few days would be critical to their recovery.
