Damascus - Hamas is ready to discuss with the international community the "option" of a truce with Israel, one of its Damascus-based leaders told AFP on Wednesday.

A truce between the election-winning Hamas and Israel "is always an option and we can discuss this with the international community", Mussa Abu Marzuk, a member of Hamas's politburo in Syria said.

"Since March, Hamas has been respecting (the truce) and until now is continuing to respect it," he said.
