Child therapist nabbed for porn
10/03/2006 20:31 - (SA)
San Diego - A respiratory therapist at a children's health centre was arrested on charges of molesting at least two patients and posting child pornography on the internet, authorities said on Thursday.
Some of the pornography was made in a hospital setting, police captain Guy Swanger said.
Wayne Bleyle, 54, was arrested on Wednesday after authorities, acting on a tip, found pornography at his home in suburban Santee, California.
Bleyle, a 25-year employee of Children's Hospital and Health Centre, worked at its long-term convalescent facility and had contact with patients requiring constant attention, said hospital spokesperson Tom Hanscom. Patients there generally cannot feed, bathe or dress themselves.
"The fact that these are among the most fragile of our fragile patients makes this person's acts particularly horrifying," Hanscom said.
Bleyle was jailed on $3m bail and was to be arraigned on Friday, said Paul Levikow, a spokesperson for the San Diego County district attorney's office.
Hospital officials have contacted the families of all 53 patients at the convalescent facility and are also contacting families of past patients, Hanscom said.
