Teen 'drug smuggler' nabbed

Sydney - A teenage British beauty student appeared in a Perth court on Monday after being caught allegedly trying to smuggle more than 10 000 amphetamine tablets into Australia.
Police said Eleanor Kathleen Taylor, 19, was detained late on Sunday after her arrival in Perth on a flight from London via Amsterdam and Johannesburg.
Customs officers searched Taylor's luggage after an X-ray check found "anomalies" in a suitcase, According to a joint statement by the service and the federal police.
They said that agents later allegedly found the 10&nbps;000 amphetamine tablets in the lining of the suitcase. She was remanded in custody until April 7.
The maximum penalty for drug smuggling in Australia is life imprisonment.
In a separate case in Hong Kong Monday, three young Australians were jailed for between nine and 13 years for trying to smuggle heroin into Australia last year.
