London - British police have arrested three teenagers in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in a fight on a south London street.
Alex Mulumba Kamondo was stabbed once in his chest as he got off a bus with friends in Kennington Road on Thursday night.
His death is the latest in a spate of knife crimes in Britain.
Police said they arrested three boys - two aged 14 and one aged 16 - on Friday night, and that the three were "currently in police custody at south London police stations".
According to police, a gang of about 10 teenage boys forced Kamondo and his friends into a nearby street where a fight broke out and the teenager was stabbed.
A police spokesperson said police had recovered a number of bladed weapons from the scene - including a kitchen knife and sword-length weapon 70cm long.
"It is not known at this stage if any of these weapons are linked to the murder," she said.
The victim's father told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper that his son's death was proof that knife crime was "out of control" in the country.
"Most young people are walking around with them (knives)," he said. "But Alex had nothing to do with knives. He didn't hang around with gangs that carried knives. He was a good, quiet boy who did nothing wrong."
About 6% of all violent crimes in Britain are knife-related.
There were more than 12 500 knife-related incidents in London last year.
About 40% of those accused of robbery with a knife are aged between 15 to 18, as are 17% of the victims.
