UN censures Israel over Gaza

Geneva - The Human Rights Council approved a resolution on Thursday censuring Israel for its military actions in the Gaza Strip.
Twenty-nine of the 47 members voted for the resolution, with five abstentions, and 13 opposed. Among the no votes were the European Union.
The EU had previously signalled its unhappiness over what it deemed the one-sided nature of the resolution text in censuring Israel.
The EU would have preferred something more balanced calling on both parties in the conflict to respond to international concerns.
The resolution was put forth by a majority of Muslim states backed by Russia and others. - Sapa-dpa
