Mumbai - Seven explosions rocked Mumbai's commuter rail network during Tuesday evening rush hour, ripping apart train compartments, a railway spokesperson said.
As many as 100 people were feared killed, police said.
A senior Mumbai police official, PS Pasricha, said the explosions were part of a well co-ordinated attack.
After the blasts there was chaos throughout Bombay's crowded rail network as authorities struggled to determine how many people had been killed and injured.
Mumbai police chief AN Roy said on Indian television that as many 100 people were feared killed and more than 250 injured.
