New Delhi - A homemade bomb was found on an empty bus in India's high-tech hub, Bangalore, and safely defused, a media report said on Friday.

The bomb was found on Thursday night by a conductor of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, the Press Trust of India news agency quoted police as saying.

The bus conductor alerted police who defused the bomb, PTI reported.

Police could not immediately be reached for comment.

There have been a spate of bomb threats and hoaxes in India since the July 11 Bombay train bombings, which killed 207 people and wounded more than 800. But the incident in Bangalore was the first in which an explosive device was found.
