16/10/2006 14:50 - (SA)
London - A teenager goes on trial at Manchester crown court on Monday accused of murdering an 11-year-old schoolboy whose body was found hidden in a park with multiple stab wounds.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has
admitted killing Joe Geeling, who suffered from the incurable
condition cystic fibrosis.
Geeling had gone missing in March after leaving school for
his home in Bury, Greater Manchester.
His body was discovered the following day in a gully in a
nearby park.
His funeral service attracted hundreds of people with family
and pupils from his school coming to pay their last respects.
The 15-year-old has yet to make a formal plea ahead of the
completion of pre-trial reports on his mental state.
